The October issue of Crossbow, the quarterly publication of the Bow Group,(a ginwer group of Tories) contains a symposium spotlighting longterm policies for the next Tory Government. Among the susszestions are that rent control, while retained for areas where there is still a housing shortage, should be abolished where there is sufficient “decent” housings Most startling though, is the contention thet family allowances do not meet real needs and that they should have been abolished lone ago in favour of an improved syatem of tax allowances for children of those who reslly need the money.

This is a real piece of Tory double-think which is in_line with their general policy of robbing the poor to feed the rich, Obvisusly the forilics most in nead of family allowances are those who don't pay tax at present, whilst increased tax allowances will fsvour the better off sections of the communi ty
