The Young Socialists are due to hold a lobby of Parliament on the issue of youth unemployment next month. Readers of The Week need not feel ashamed if they have not heard of this forthcoming event because no announcement or advance publicity has been given, despite the fact that the decision was taken by the NEC of the Labour Party over a month a;'0. A report appearing in last Sunday's Telegraph said "...that some Trans— port House officials...fear thet the demonstration...will prove an acute political embarrassment..." and that hopes were being expressed that an excuse would be found to cancel the operation.

Quite apart from the principle involved the effect of such a cance— llation would be extremely demoralising to the already shaky Y.S. movement. Figures elsewhere in The Week show that youth unemployment is still a terrible problem despite the improvement in the overall employment position. The best way to meet this threat is to pull out all the stops and ensure the largest possible number of delegates and participants.
