The Conference : (a) DECLARES that the freedom of Trade Unions, their independence from special interests and their opposition to influences contrary to their genuine democratic principles are a necessary condition for the development of the working class movement and the achievement of social progress and African unity. _(b) SUPPORTS the desire of African Trade Uniens te unite in an autonomous Panafrican Federation with a distinctive African personality, AFFIRMS that this federation shall be an independent central organisation,
