The resignation of Margaret Herbison from the Government is yet another sign that Wilson's policies are a disaster for Labour, No one would accuse Miss Herbison of being a left-winger - her letter of resignation shows that she does not, at present, oppose the general policies of the Government, Yet she felt compelled to resign. Her letter of resignation gave no hint of what coming measures disturbed her so much; neither did it indicate that she was going to campaign against the Cabinet's betrayal of the poor and needy. That is a pity, but her principled act in resigning - so much in contrast with the behaviour of some who still style themselves left - is bound to stimulate rank and file resistance,
