A national conference of trade union organisations and shop stewards' committees is to be convened on 3rd December 1966 in the Beaver Hall, London, H.l. This timely initiative has been taken by the shop:stewards' committees of ENV, EMI, Hawker Siddcley (‘ingston), Shardlow's (Shefiield), the London sheet metalworkers' committee, the ae London Exhibition Workers' co-ordinating committee, the London Ruilding Workers' Joint Sites Committee, and the Port of London Docks Liason Committee. A number of prominent individuals are associated with the move, including;, notably, Clive Jenkins of ASSET and Bill Jones of the Té&GWU. The Conference will consider how to fight the wage freeze and unemployment, and how to co-ordinate the defence of the unions against the Government's anti-union legislation, The lar.est possible mobilisation is necessary to ensure that the growing opposition to the criminal policies of union=-busting now being eplied, receives the maximum effective co-ordination.
