The Family Expenditure Survey sf 1960 shows an INCREASE of relative poverty over 1954. Eighteen per cent of sample households representing 7.5 million people were living in poverty. Of these, 2 million were living below the National assistance Scale, 23 millinn children (one in five) were living in poverty.
