The only logical conclusion from the whole of last weck's talks on the railways, tho promises that Mr, Wilson made, etc. is that the incomes policy as present operated by the Government not the policy that unions like the N.U.Re should support. Only Mr. Wilsor/8ppeal to avoid putting the Government on the spot averted the strike, Just how many times can that appeal be made? Can the railmen be confident that the assurances about looking again at the profitability principle will be met unless their union flexes its muscles? The N.U.R. will be among the first unions to hold its anmal conference this years; it would be a very clear warning to the Government if it became among the first to reverse its policy on incomes policy, All those unions that voted for Mr. Brown's decBration of intent thinking that it would apply to everyone except themselves should ponder the sad example of the N.U.Re
