Seven million French workers from both the public and private sectors of the economy went on a 24 hour General Strike on iay 17th for higher wages and shorter working hours, This is the biggest industrial action taken by French workers in recent years, The stoppage affects gas, electricity, public transport, postal services, banks, and the chemical, metallurgical and textile industries.
