from Eddie Stones Since June 1965 seventeen members of the Guiana Peoples Progressive Party have been imprisoned without trial and without any charges being preferred against them. More have recently been detained under similar circumstances. Because of the current repressive regime, protest in Guiana is difficult and any efforts made in this country on behalf of the prisoners is of great importance. It is also urgent that any action taken be taken quickly since Guiana becomes independent on 26th May, 1966. In order to coordinate protests in the Birmingham area a committee has been set up.
