Both Tribune and the Daily Wormer have called for the despatch of British troops to put down the "Smith rebellion," At first sight this seems to be a prectical and perfectly proper idea to put forward. On reflection, however, I have my doubts, The "kith and kin" argument has no relevance for socialists. In fact it could only be used by people whose thinking is tainted by colour prejudice. For socialists all men are "kith and kin" ~ regardless of colour, relidon, race or nationality. But there is another socialist axiom which comes to pind: the liberation of the working class must be the work of the workin f#8elf. Put another ways: can we expect a Government which uses its troops in Malaysia, in Southern ‘rabia, in Guyana and elsewhere to put the local population down to use them to liberate Rhodesia? My betting is that the only time we will see British sent to Rhodesia is,when British big business investments are in danger, The job in Rhodesia/to assist in every way the struggle of the African people to liberate themselves,
