A recent circular put out by the Scarborough New Left Club concluded: "The New Left Club appeals to all socialists and progressives to apply for membership of the Scarborough Labour Party. If the present abysmally unsatisfactory Executive Committee could be removed from office by a majority vote of the rank and file membership, it would then be possible to rebuild the party, so as to ensure that it becomes a vital instrument of social reform in the Scarborough and Whitby Constituency. "Applications for membership should be made in writing unter a certificate of posting to the secretary, Mr. R.W. Grant, 15, Ryndle Walk, Scarborough, or the Graham Sea Training School, Paradise, Scarborough, Telephone 2740,"
