from a Liverpool reader As a follow-up to the report in last week's issue about the demonstrertion of Plessey workers at Blackpool, renders will be interested in the following which appeared in the Finencial Times of October 9th: "Record profits were achieved by the Plessey Company...sin the year to June 30, 1965, and the dividend is effectively increased by 2% to 14% with a finnl dividend of 7% Group turnover expanded from £96,38m. to £104,78me, the profit, before tax, advanced from £13m. to £15.19m., sind the net profit, after tax, is up from £7,04m. to £10,09m.,.."" It seems that whilst Liverpool employees of the concern face unemploynent and/or loss of esrnings through "reorganisation" and "rationnlisation" the shareholders and directors are to do better than ever before. A united fight by all employees of Plessey is needed to defend standards and make sure the workers get a bigger shrre of the cake.
