Siddeley Group. has taken advantage of the Labour Government's changes in defence policy to threaten thousands of workers with sacking. We feel that the behaviour of this firm is a powerful argument for the nationalisation, under democratic control, of the aircraft industry. The following facts, which come from the January/February issue of Aviation Voice, back this argument up to the hilt. The Hawker-Siddeley group is the biggest business in British aviation. The group’s profits for 1963 increased to over {£6 million. The eleven full-time directors receive £375 a week.
