from Peter Baines

The socialists of Scarborough appeal to all members of the Labour Party to write immediately to Sarah Barker, Transport House, Smith Square, London S.W. le, asking for an impartial tribunal to be set up to enquire into the activities of the Scarborough Labour Party. Such an enquiry would be a mere sham if all complainants were not granted equal representation. It has been suggested that expelled members of the Latour Party will not be heard. If this happens the resultant enquiry would serve only to "whitewash" the most undemocratic and repressive Labour Party in the country. N.B. We have been informed that a number of M.P.s and other figures in the Labour Party have been so disturbed by the reports of the set-up in the Scarborough Labour Party that they have pressed for an enquiry. This would appear to us to reinforce the appeal of Mr. Baines.
