Readers of The Week understand their duty in the Labour movement quite well and do not require tis journal to harangue them to work in the municipal elections. However, this year it is important to understand that there is more than usual significance in the municipal election results. Coming just after the first real clash between the Labour Government and the Tory and Liberal opposition over steel, the results will be considered an indication of public opinion on this vital matter. A swing to the Tories will be intemreted by them as a vote against steel nationalisation and their moral will be boosted,
A contrary development, and as Labour did very well in 1962 this could be achieved by Labour merely holding its own, would greatly assist the struggle to improve the Steel Bill,
