in Bristol from Tom Nicholls

N important meeting: ‘“Educa-

tional Reform in Britain” will take place in Bristol on Saturday, 3rd April. The venue will be the Cooperative Hall, Prewett Street, Bristol I, and the meeting is due to commence at 7.30 p.m. The main speaker will be Stan Newens, M.P., and he will be supported by a local speaker. The conference has been arranged by ithe Co-op Political Committee, the Co-op Education Committee, and the Borough Labour Party, as part of a programme of half-yearly conferences on matters of importance to the Labour movement. Included in the agenda will be a concert, and refreshments will be served during the evening. Stan Newens is well suited to speak on this topic; he is a teacher and has been active in the struggle for better education and better conditions for teachers. It is hoped that all readers of The Week will do their best to ensure as big an attendance as possible.
