Speaking to the last meeting of the Sheffield Trades and Labour Council, ‘Mr. Vernon Thornes, Secretary of the Council, said that the TUC had refused to intervene in the dispute over the dismissal of girls at the Truline Bra Ltd., Sheffield. (see previous issues of The Week for details of case). The TUC took the attitude that this was an internal affair for the union. The Council had had to accept this, and reluctantly agreed that there was nothing more they could do,
