Tom Nicholls reports: 4n Anti-Apartheid Group was set up at a meeting in Bristol recently. The speaker was Mr. J. Slovo, an advocate who defended Nelson Mandela, and who was forced to flee the country through Bechuanaland. Mr. Slovo said that more than 1,000 Africans were arrested in South Africa every day for breaking the pass-laws. An encouraging amount of support was received from trade union circles. The Bristol Trades Council expmssed support at its last meeting and agreed to send an observer, A repregntative from the TGWU attended and messages of support were sent by TU officials.
