A delegation from Prague visited Vienna last autumn to seek a suitable site for a motor assembly plant in Lower Austria, near the Czech border, and to start negotiations on supply agreements with a number of firms, Diplomatic circles in Vienna beliove that: an assembly plant may be built only if Austria is successful in roaching some form of arrangement with the Common Market, thereby gaining Skoda a bridgehead into the 'Six!, Financing of the plant presents considerable difficul~ ties, as state undertakings in communist countries do not normally make capital investments in the Yest. This problem could be bridged if money were put up oither by the Skoda agencies, or by the Austrian suppliers.
