At their meeting on Thursday 14th May the Agricultural Wages Board for England and Wales resumed consideration of a claim by the workers! representatives for a third week's annual -holiday with pay. The reply by the employers! representatives was presented by Mr. GT. Williams of the National Farmers! Union and was supported by other members of the employers! side. After further discussion the Board adjourned and.will meet again on 3rd June. The farmers turned down the claim-on ‘the grounds.of cost and also because they had already conceded ' wage inc rreases during, the-past year. In the absence of agreement the 'independent': members! of the’ BoaYd can recommend a settlement.
The claim was ‘first: presented on April lst, and the present holiday of ‘two weeks was introduced in'October 1951. Very stromresistance to the claim is expected. Sheree ae
