The December, 1963, issue of the Ministry of Labour Gazotto gives statistics for overtime worked in the manufcturing industries during October. These reveal that of the somewhat over 6m. workers employed, just under 2m. (32.34) worked an average of 8 hours per week overtime, The proportion working overtime was very high in nonelectrical engineering (44.7%) and newspapers (45.64), whilst in chemicals and dyes, oper atives working overtime did on average 10.7 hours per week,
