Sutton Onk branch refers to the spread of shift working due to automation and proposes & special committee to investigate "the difficulties that shift workers will meet in an affluent society."
Glasgow and Northwich branches suggest that a shorter working week would ease the problems caused by automation. There is also a resolution on the extension of engineering three-shift working. Clydebank refers to its effect on the workers! social and family life, and says that "the scecial services and amenities must be brought into line with these changing conditions", end that the present agreement on three-shift payment must be revisede
