The Secretary, President and vice—President of the International Lowshoremen's and Warehousemen's Union, on hearing of Hoffa's conviction, sent him a telegram assuring him of their “understanding and all-out support® and saying that in the long rung "Bobby Kennedy and his vicious personal vends: tta against you will be defeated." Jixplaining his attitude, Harry Bridges, ILW president, said: "It is not a question of trying to paint Hoffa as a shining knight.
