The best answor to this question can be given by merely quoting what Patrick Gordon Walker wrote in the last issue of Foreign Affairs: he said that the Labour Party accepted “without question" the need for a western deterrent so long as Russia had nuclear weapons. He continued We are ready to bear the full moral and political responsibility of membership in an alliance which possesses such weaponSee."
