In Los:Angeles the Communication “orkors of Amorica aro at the moment engaged in a struggle with their employers, the General Telephone Company, Although this strike in its fourth month, only 204 of the employees have returned to work, and these have done so mainly because of the tactics of the General Telephone Co, Thoy have fired employees and replaced them with black labour, cut-off strike leaders' telephones and repeatedly interfered with telephone conversations, .inother telep~ hone company, tho Pacific, pays highor wages and fringe benofits, in spite of their employces having had ...,, the same training, and working under the same conditions as the strikers, One membor of the Los Angeles C.W.A. said that out of 15 workers in his unit, 12 wero forced to take part-time jobs.

The strikers have received support from the International Assoc ination of Machinists, the longshoromen's union and the International Brotherhood of Blectrical Workers, and both telephone subscribers and employees have manned tho picket lines.
