When interviewed by the Oxford paper Cherwell (Fobruary 12 issue) George Brown, in reply to a question as to whether Labour would repeal’ tho Commonwealth Immigration Act, saide "This would not be constructive. You can never put a situation back to where it was by simple repeal. The situation had changed now, and poople might come in their thousends in fear that it might be enforced again. He also said thet, "it would be idle to pretend that there is no feeling against coloured people in areas which are under pressure = usually Labour areas — where there is a bad housing shortage, few jobs and so forthee..”
