Forecourt petrol pump attendants employed by the multinational Oil company ELF in the West of Scotland were on strike for eleven weeks. The attendants, mainly women, have organised in the T&GWU. They have forced the company to pay the
nationallv agreed wage rate, but are still fighting for Union recognition.
All the oil companies including BP are now using ELF as a testing ground to prevent the spread of trade unionism in the oil industry and on forecourts nationally.
