NUMBER 4 APRIL 1977

HARRY MACSHANE ON HOME RULE AND THE LABOUR MOVEMENT

CPGB the LEADERS British CRACK Road to DOWN IN Socialism GLASGOW Draft

Labour's Scottish Conference. Scottish Strike Social Contract. STUC; NUS; EIS.

[page 9]

In the short space of three issues Scottish Socialist has established itself as the only socialist paper which gives comprehensive coverage of events, activities and debates in the Scottish Labour movement. It has begun to establish its credentials as a forum for debate in the best traditions of the Scottish working-class press.

Unfortunately our readers have given less respect to this tradition. A working-class paper can only survive and expand if it is financially supported by its readership. Our appeal for funds in the last issue brought in only £20.

With this issue we have moved into new offices in Glasgow, with the next we move to a monthly publication schedule. This costs money. If the paper is to expand in size and develop its coverage, we need about t200 a month. That is only £1 per reader per year. Please send in your contribution now; or perhaps vou could organise a fund raising event for the paper.
