Strathclyde's cuts have included a slashing [6 million in transport. Glasgow's already ailing transport system now faces the closure of the to: underground for two years for structural repairs, and on the buses, the axing of 750 jobs and the closure of Partick Garage.

Against these attacks, the Partick Garage workers have set up an action committee to fight the cuts. Their leaflet points out that cutbacks have resulted in continuous deterioration in services to the community, ever since the introduction of pay as you enter buses in 1967. Since then the workforce has been reduced from 7,000 to 4.000 and the number of buses from 1500 to 900.

The proposed cuts will result in a disastrous further decline in service unless they are stopped. The first shot was fired with a one-day demonstration and strike supported by over

2,000 people on 24th November.
