At the London Coop Farty annual conference held Sunday, November 24th, Mra, Chaplin, Holborn moved a successful resolution asking for Labour and co-operative movements to study ways of improving trade, economic and cult~ ural relations between Cuba and Great Eritain, The resolution also urged that the 0.7.5. carry out direct negotiations with Cuba for the purchase of sugar and other commodities. =
Full discussion also tock place on a resolution which viewed with mis giving London Society's policy of inetant dividond, and asked that the socisty should revert to dividend in all shops,
Moving this, Mr. A.J. Fielder, Hounslow, said that ever since the scoioty introduced instant dividend thera had been confusion among shoppers. When the baker delivered goods the customer received a dividend check, mt if the customer wanted to buy the same goods in one of the society's stores, she would get no dividend.
Speaking for the board of management, Mr. ii. Ledger, M.F., said the socicty had not introduced a complete policy of instant dividend, and it was well aware thab tho schema had not produced all the results which were expected. A report is awaited from the food trades! manager.
