After a bitter battle on Hampstead Torough Council, the Tory majority - forced through a £30 million new town project for the development of 57 acros + of railway land bounded by Finchley Road, Lymington Road, Vest End Lane, and ' Broadhurst Gardens, The decision by 26 votes to 15 wes carried, as the <€ Tories prepared the way for the Covent Garden Froperty Company to take over . this valuable land for proparty devolopment, i.~inly in luxury tilding.
