Wo have reproduced oxtracts from an article in the contemporary issue of the Economist which deridos the Tory plans for regional development. This article r2flocts differences of opinion within the capitelist class of this country which we havea roferred to before, The same issue of the Economist had as its main editorial an attack on the Prime Minister's attitude on the possession of an inépendent British deterrent. That article ended: "seu. Britain will do itself no good by appearing to demand a place in the world othor than justified by its quelitities its woight and its usefulness, by using nuclear aruoment as a lever to that end; or by egging others to do tha same,"

These differences, which have deep roots, are obviously a very important political phenomena, In our little journal wo can do little more than hint at soma of the issues involved from time to time so we are glad to learn that at least one other journal is to carry material making a full analysis of the question. We will give more details in subsequent issues,
