As a further contribution to moderation in interhal prices even under "controlled frsedom", the government is making significant cuts in import duties. On a range of consumer products, it is. making reductions of 15 to 20% in duties on imports from within the 3.E.C.- i.o. of 74 to 10% in tha level of tariffs existing whon the Common Ilarket came into existence. So far as imports of these goods from third countries is concerned, France will cut duties by half the difference between prosent levels and tho duty levels sat for them in the « ntual common external tariff of the common market. These are tariff cuts tnt would not, by the normal processes of Commmnity reduction, have to face for many years to come...
