The @nd Eatallion of the Scots Gaurde is being sent from Eenya to Zanzibar to interfere with the eloctions which will take place at the beginning of July. This was revealed in a statement ismied on May 29th by the British Colonial Authorities in Nairobi, Under the strong demands and pressure of the Zanzibar people, the British Government was compelled last month to agree that olections in Zanzibar would taka place early in July and "internal selfgovern ment" would be introduced two weeks before polling day. A similar case of intervention in eléctions in Zanzibar occurred in June, 1961, On that occasion, riots were instigated by the British and troops sent in from Kenya and Tanganyika, manypeople being killed as a consequence and militants arrested,
