Readers of last weuk's Bulletin will be aware of the attempts made by the Right-wing Regional Organiser of this party to obstruct left-wing delegates from speaking at meetings because they live just outside the City boundaries although repesenting affiliated bodies to thea City Party. This is an attempt to diminish the increasing tide of left-wing sentiments and calls for action being pressed by these delegates with the support of the body of the delegates, 72 hours before the AGM this week, at which a left-wing slate of alternative candidates was fielded, the Regional Organitber instigated the withdrawal of credentials of many of these left-wing delegates, in a panic attempt. to influence the ccurse of the election, Thia is despite the fect that the rules of the Party state. that 3 months notica is required for an amendment to the miles — which.is what the Regional Organise?s moves amount to, Hut the measure has bean rushed through in order to safeguard the status quo at the election. Affected delegates have produced a leaflet for other delegates giving six reasons why the schome should be rejected and the 4GM postponed until all bodies had delegates, This was. given out at the meeting. Inside the meeting the chairman prevanted real discussion on tho question despite tho efforts of many delegates — thea matter being oventually left to the newly elected Exccutive Committes, ‘Despite the disenfranchisement of many left-wing delegates, the right-wing suffered some loss of ground.
