Although it is not a major issuo, I think Socialists should be aware - if thoy are not already ~ that the proposed removal of Colin Jordan as a teacher becauso of his Fascist ideas has implications beyond his particular case. Too nany apparent socialists — including so I am told the Daily Worker — have approved his dismissal. But this type of action is double-edged and could be applied to the whole of the left. No socialist should support this sort of action by the "outhorities" - in this case the local educational functionaries.

The way to combat Fascism is by agitatation and extra-Parlianontary action, not by supporting 'legal' coercion by the adminstrative apparatus. In the last issue the Jiditorial renarked on authoritarianism as a possible culmination of capitalist strategy in this country and Western Zurope. This authoritarianism would involve all sorts of "controls", "dismissals", etc. of "subversive clonents", It disciplines the lunatic rught in order to club the 1 ft.
