Vol. 1. No. 29 Price Threopenco July 10th 1962 LUFT WING VICTORIOUS IN INDIAN COMMUNIST PARTY
This articlo is oxtractod from International, journal of tho Australian section of the Fourth International sD. Note.
At tho rocont National Confcrenco of tho Communist Party of India, the left wing achioved a majority of 5 to 4 over tho riht wing on the National Secretariat - the day-to-day policy making body of the C.P.I. Tho rosults of tho Genoral Dloctions in March had undorminod tho authority of the right-wing lcadorship which supports tho Khrushchovist line of backing tho "progressive bourgooisio" .. represented by Nohru.
Tho victorious (.P.I. loft wing is tho most loft-wing Communist Party tondoncy in tho world. It supports tho position of the Chinoso Communist Party, but unlike the Chinose loadors, it ondorses tho de-Stalinisation in tho Soviot Union. It attacks the right-wing, Khrushchovist tondoncy in the C.P.I, loadorship for its kowtowing to Nehru and advocates tho class strugglo as the only way to socialism, implicitly rojocting tho "parliamentary ways to socialism’ roevisionisn.
It stands for domocratic discussion inside tho Communist Party and attacks tho Burcaucratic mothods Khrushchov uses inside the Sovict Communist Party and in tho discussion of the international disputes. It defends China in tho dispute with India over tho border question and effectively points out that this is being used by Nehru in his strugglo intornally against tho Communists and the Indian masses.
This advanced position is in fact a synthesis of the more noarly marxist positions adopted by cach of tho conflicting world Communist Party tondencics on one or other major question, but which in cach caso co-oxist with tho most react— ionary positior on other major quostions. Thus while being "proChinese" tho C.P.I. loft wing do not take tho Chinese position on Stalin, which is so opportunist and indofensible. It stands closer to tho Trotskyist, the 100 per cont Loninist position than any othcr mass C.P. tondoncey which has mass support.
Basod upon tho rovolutionary inclined masses of West Bongal and Calcutta these left wingors delineato tho necossary road which a genuinely rovolutionary tondoncy must follow. Objectively thore is now tho persPective of fusion of tho rovolutionary Marxist groups with this tendency, to onsure its continucd rapid development to revolutionary marxismesee.,
